Armed officers were deployed to a property in Exeter city centre this afternoon after receiving reports that there were people with weapons inside.

Devon and Cornwall Police’s force incident manager (FIM) confirmed that police had been called to the property in Larkbeare Road at around 5.30pm following calls from concerned members of the public.

The FIM told DevonLive that the calls were about “potentially” with weapons at the address.

As a result, armed officers were authorised to deploy and entered the property.

Witnessed have told DevonLive they saw a number of armed response vehicles in the area and several armed officers visit the quiet narrow road, which leads to the River Exe.

A search of the property was carried out and a number of young men were detained as they were also searched.

However, police have said no arrests were made and no weapons were discovered.
